2006-09-21 Conference in Geisenheim

Being a scientist has its benefits: one gets to attend different conferences. This year's meeting of the ADIVK took place in Geisenheim, a pretty city next to the river Rhein.

Isn't this room ugly? This color-combination makes my eyes go funny. My university doesn't pay much for hotel rooms, cheapskates!

One of the many things shown to us on the tour around campus: this is actually a new kind of apple-tree that can be grown on balconies due to its lack of branches. They just had to knock-out one gene in order to get this "mutant tree".
