2006-09-09 Trip to the "Steinhuder Meer"

Every year, former members of the institute I work for meet at a different place in order to exchange news with those still working there and of course remembering "good ol' times". This year, we agreed to cycle aroung the "Steinhuder Meer". Calling this petty lake a "Meer" ("Sea") is ridiculous, but it is a nice recreation area nonetheless.

Half the way round (about 18 km), we stopped for a coffee-break. My boss' wife brought us some cake by car (carrying it all the way on a bike would have been a bit of a hindrance). That's us after some coffee and cake (HAPPY!).

Sibi seems to explaining something to one of my dearest colleagues, Jan. He's really cool, but he stopped working at our institute some time ago.


We rented our bikes at a local store as we don't have bikes that would withstand a cross-country tour of 40 km. The rented bikes SHOULD have, but Sibi's bike had a flat tire in the middle of nowhere. We where fortunate to have Thomas with us who had brought his whole tool-kit along. He really seemed to enjoy himself reparing the bike. Glad we could provide this much fun :) .
